The War on Terrorism is a comic article that symbolizes the tragedies that changed America forever. It also shows different people's opinions on why they feel that countries are doing wrong and making the situations worse.

Book response

My response to the essay and movie we watched in the past week was very influential. I have a different view on illegal immigrants etc. In the essay they talk about how in france for example there are hollywood stars at the end of a very famous museum. They also talk about the influences other cultures have on America.

Religion in School

Religion was influeced at my school. I played many sports and we prayed before all of our games. Most of our extra activities were held by our church including after prom and graduation and fifth quarter. My town was very small with a population of 650. I lived in a town named Godley that had a popultation of 650. Although our town was very small we had over 8 churches.

My faith

Faith in God was never forced on me growing up. But it was always around. My parents were religious and never forced it upon me. I never doubted my beliefs or contradicted the thoughts my church gave me. It was always a fact. The past weeks we have seen all sides and views. Although I still believe strongly, the past week has gave me thoughts I never had before. I think it is good to be open minded and hear point of views.

Gus On The Front Porch

In this vivid image there is a hard-working cowboy named Gus sitting on the front porch of an old dirty house. The house appears small and is connected to a wooden porch that has small chunks missing from it. The white walls that make this tired house stand are cracked and worn. The door to the house is open with invitation. Inside the house is very crowded and dusty, all I see is a dining table with a chair. This one chair is covered by a poncho. Although Gus is relaxed and happy, his face is wrinkled and his boots are worn from his hard day. He seems content with what he has although it does not amount to much. His wardrobe consist of suspenders, dusty tall boots, spurs, and a long pair of pants and shirt. Gus is squinting into the distance and smiling at his own thoughts. I know it is his thoughts because the antique stool beside him is empty and the shadow displayed along the wooden porch does not consist of a body's shadow. His thoughts are probably creative and jumbled from the liquor bottle beside him. The main feel I get from this image is that everything has a story. The cracks in the wall have a story of a storm or the wrinkles on his face tell of his good time and bad times in the heat or the chipped porch tells of the many people that have lived here. I know it is cliche but--"If the walls could talk" they would have something to say.

Wealth=Power?

In the past couple weeks we had many discussions that involved "Assault by Reason" by Algore. In Algore's essay he talks about how the wealthy have more power. I believe in this. For example Jennifer Aniston would have more say on a topic than me. This is because she is well known and she has the money to make a commercial etc. She would automatically influence people because of her wealth and social standing even if I had more knowledge about the subject.

The Problem we All Live With

In the drawing The problem we all live with there is a small African-American school girl walking next to White male businessmen. In the background there is racist graffiti on the wall. this painting represent school integration. The title explains itself well. Still to this day it is a problem we all live with.

TAKS determines schools Budget

One of the topics that stood out that we discussed in class was the how school's budgets determine on how well the kids do on TAKS. There were so many different views in our class. Some thought it was a good idea because it helps the schools to want to do better so they can get more money. In other views people thought it should be the other way around. They thought the schools that didn't do so well should get more money for resources so their kids can succeed the next year.

My view on this is that everyone should get the same amount of money. Since we want everyone to be equal we should give everyone equal money. Although when I say "everyone" gets the same money, I mean according to their school size. Obviously a school with 4,000 kids is going to need more money than a school with 400. For the TAKS schools should just get recognition.

High School

I am from a very small town named Godley. It is thirty minutes south of Fort Worth with a population of 800. In a town this small your friends become your brother and sisters. I played on the basketball team and sooner or later they weren't my teammates they were my family.

When I was a fresman my parents got divorced. My mom moved to Dallas and my father stayed in Godley with me. He stayed with me until he had a stroke. Because of his bad health, he had to move closer to my mom so she could take care of him. So I was left with two choices, move in with a friend, or move to Dallas with my family.

I chose to move in with my friend and it was probably one of the hardest choices I have ever made. The reason I picked it though is because I knew I could succeed at Godley. My basketball team kept my grades up and my friends kept me involved. I knew moving to a big school my sophomore year would be hard. I would have to find new friends that I know couldn't compare. I would have to earn a spot on the basketball team.
