TAKS determines schools Budget

One of the topics that stood out that we discussed in class was the how school's budgets determine on how well the kids do on TAKS. There were so many different views in our class. Some thought it was a good idea because it helps the schools to want to do better so they can get more money. In other views people thought it should be the other way around. They thought the schools that didn't do so well should get more money for resources so their kids can succeed the next year.

My view on this is that everyone should get the same amount of money. Since we want everyone to be equal we should give everyone equal money. Although when I say "everyone" gets the same money, I mean according to their school size. Obviously a school with 4,000 kids is going to need more money than a school with 400. For the TAKS schools should just get recognition.

I think the government is more or less thinking "How do we know these kids will do something good with the funds provided if they haven't tried so far?"

Don't you think? Why would they waste their money if there seems to be no motivation at that school?

I agree, if everyone wants everything to be equal then everyone should get the same amount of money depending on how many students attend the school.

Our school was the same way. Although they more cared about our attendance. However each year the principal would come up with stupid incentives for us to want to pass TAKS more. I feel that if you dont want to pass it then you dont want to pass it.

I agree schools should get different amounts of money based on their size. The school i went to had a graduating class of 75 and we always did really well on taks so we had more money than we knew what to do with and i don't think thats fair to the other schools.
